ART 301 Assignment 2

ART 301 Assignment 2

1) Brochure
Paramount Studios www.paramount.com

The website for Paramount allows people to read up on what movies they're working on, which movies are already out, information about the company and even how to be apart of it through its own job portal or internship opportunities. The homepage has a nice display of their latest releases. The nav bar at the top leads to more information about the studio and even a site to purchase merchandise.

2) eCommerce
Chegg www.chegg.com

Chegg is a textbook rental website. This website follows what I believe is the current trend of websites. The design is flat and the homepage is long which allows a lot of information to be presented on a single page. The images and sections extend to the edges of the browser so there's always something to look at, there isn't much empty space. A cool thing about it is that the pictures behind the text disappear into the next section as you scroll down the page.

3) Community Social
Reddit www.reddit.com

Reddit is a website for users to post links to images, personal thoughts/opinions, or other websites which users can then discuss about with each other. The layout is pretty basic and not design heavy however it is a very popular website that thousands of people visit each day.

4) Reference/Instruction
Craigslist www.craigslist.com

Craigslist is a website for people to post things for sale, job opportunities, apartments for rent, and several other items or services that other people may be looking for. The design is also basic yet thousands of people use it daily to look for specific things they want. I think what makes it so successful is its easy to navigate homepage. All subjects are grouped into larger sections which allows users to find what they're looking for quicker.

5.) Web Application
Studyblue www.studyblue.com

Studyblue is a study tool for students to make online flashcards, tests/quizzes and review sheets. The homepage also has the contemporary design I used to describe Chegg. Once logged in the website is very easy to navigate, The design is easy on the eyes with the use of static nav bars and a side menu that expands when you hover over it.

6) Micro site
Interstellar Official Webpage www.interstellarmovie.net

The website for the film Interstellar is very interactive. There's a large slideshow on the homepage, small games, wallpapers for downloads and more.

7) App
USA Today (available for iOS)

I use this app daily to read about current events.  What I like are the sections where you can find what type of news you are looking for like world news, tech news, sports news etc. It makes it easy to navigate the app. The text is easy to read and there's always a photo or video to accompany the article.
